Data-Driven Parameter Choice for Illumination Artifact Correction of Digital Images

چکیده

We propose a new procedure for image illumination correction with data-driven parameter choice. This aims at estimating the reflectance from corrupted version in which corruption is due to pointwise multiplicative artifact. The log -illumination artefact consists of “smooth” variations intensity are modelled by function lying finite dimensional space. Then -y-correction incorporated. question model selection difficult solve. an entropy minimization criterion both approximating space dimension and -y-coefficient, so that no tuning needed. Several experiments presented using this approach. A comparison other methods illustrates relevance

Correction of uneven illumination (vignetting) in digital microscopy images.

BACKGROUND Many digital microscopy images suffer from poor illumination at the peripheries (vignetting), often attributable to factors related to the light path between the camera and the microscope. A commonly used method for correcting this has been to use the illumination of an empty field as a correction filter (white shading correction). AIMS To develop an alternative shading correction ...

A Methodology for Evaluating Illumination Artifact Removal for Corresponding Images

Robust stereo and optical flow disparity matching is essential for computer vision applications with varying illumination conditions. Most robust disparity matching algorithms rely on computationally expensive normalized variants of the brightness constancy assumption to compute the matching criterion. In this paper, we reinvestigate the removal of global and large area illumination artifacts, ...

Illumination Correction on Biomedical Images

RF-Inhomogeneity Correction (aka bias) artifact is an important research field in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Bias corrupts MR images altering their illumination even though they are acquired with the most recent scanners. Homomorphic Unsharp Masking (HUM) is a filtering technique aimed at correcting illumination inhomogeneity, but it produces a halo around the edges as a side effect. In ...

Susceptibility artifact correction in GE images

In Gradient Echo (GE) images, susceptibility artifact induces both intravoxel dephasing and pixel shifting (Fig. 2-a) leading to intensity and geometric distortions [1] that may disturb image analysis. In previous works, correction of GE images is assessed by modifying acquisition parameters or by using specific sequences [2]. All the proposed techniques always constrain the acquisition process...

Retrospective Illumination Correction of Retinal Images

A method for correction of nonhomogenous illumination based on optimization of parameters of B-spline shading model with respect to Shannon's entropy is presented. The evaluation of Shannon's entropy is based on Parzen windowing method (Mangin, 2000) with the spline-based shading model. This allows us to express the derivatives of the entropy criterion analytically, which enables efficient use ...
